Visiting Policy

Prince of Wales Nursing Home operates an open visiting policy with no restrictions. However, if your guests are visiting very late or at mealtimes, please ask them to check with a member of staff first to avoid any disruption to you or your fellow residents.

The new building offers a high degree of security for the residents with an administrator on duty 0800-1600 Monday to Friday to greet all visitors. Visitors can ring the bell and our staff will be able to greet you and allow you immediate access. This ensures that staff are aware who is on the premises.

All visitors are requested to sign the visitors’ book at reception when they arrive, and record the times of entering and leaving the Home. This is to ensure the staff know exactly who is on the premises, which is particularly important in the event of a fire alarm sounding.

We will always make arrangements for you to receive your visitors in private, whether in your own rooms or in the second lounge.

Telephone calls may be made to the home at any time of the day or night as there are staff on duty 24 hours.

Visiting overnight

There are several hotels and guest houses in the local area which are within a short distance of the home that visitors may wish to make use of if they are travelling from a distance. We are happy to supply a list of these on request – please ask at Reception.

In the event of a resident becoming seriously ill, it is possible for immediate next of kin to stay temporarily at the home. This service is for relatives that live a long distance from the home, and we do not make a charge for this service.
