The Prince of Wales Nursing Home provides care for older people and younger adults who, for physical, health, or social reasons, are not able to either care for themselves or be supported at home by family and professional carers. Nursing and residential care are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

The Prince of Wales Nursing Home specialises in general nursing care including respite care and providing residential care for older people. The role of the Home is to provide care for those whose sole or main reason for needing care is a physical dependence on others to provide assistance with performing normal daily living activities. These include washing and bathing, dressing, taking food and drink, and walking and mobilising. We also provide a range of social opportunities and activities to ensure that residents are occupied and fulfilled. We also provide care for those with Dementia and for older people with Mental Health issues. Our nursing and carers also provide social and psychological support for residents and their families, by ensuring that anything that may be worrying them is addressed, with support and care provided accordingly.

Our aim is to provide a personalised care service which fully meets each individual resident’s needs, and to do this to a standard that embraces all the current principles of good care practice. We also seek to demonstrate the achievement of this aim consistently, so that any resident, visitor, professional or regulator may witness the quality of individual care provided.

Each resident will have a care plan, a record written specifically to communicate their individual care needs. We strongly believe that you have the right to expect that we will discuss and agree your care plans with you. Where a resident is not able to express a view, we invite their family or representative to discuss and agree the plans with us – always taking into account the need for confidentiality.

We will review your care plan every month, and invite you and your representatives to review the care at least every six months. Residents supported by Social Services will have a review annually with their Care Manager, and the Home will be pleased to host and participate in these reviews.
