The Services and Facilities Provided; Terms & Conditions

We provide a personalised and confidential service to each and every resident. Each resident is provided with a letter setting out the individual terms and conditions of residency including the actual amounts payable.

In addition to the 24-hour nursing and care services, Prince of Wales Nursing Home provides the following services included in the fees;

  • Full board and lodging.
  • All meals.
  • Beverages such as tea, coffee, Horlicks, Drinking Chocolate and fruit squashes are provided at regular intervals and as requested.
  • All heating and lighting.
  • A full personal laundry service (excluding dry cleaning).
  • A variety of entertainment.

Not included, for which additional charges may be made are:

  • Newspapers and magazines.
  • Specially arranged entertainment/outings.
  • Escort to surgery, hospital or clinical appointments.
  • Visitors meals.
  • Transport, e.g. taxis.
  • Incontinence products, outside of NHS/SS funding.

Additional services for which charges are made by the individual practitioners are:

  • Chiropody.
  • Optician (free eye testing).
  • Dentist (free check-ups).
  • Chiropody.
  • Hairdressing.
  • Therapy treatments.

All such charges will be agreed in advance with the individual resident and/or their representatives. All these services can be provided at cost and invoiced on a monthly basis.

Services provided free of charge by the NHS to the residents of Prince of Wales Nursing Home include:

  • General Practitioner (GP) medical services.
  • Nursing care to residential care clients.
  • Dietitian and dietetics advice.
  • Specialist nursing advice.
  • Macmillan nurse advisers.

The home’s staff will arrange appointments with these professionals and other specialist practitioners as requires. Where residents need to attend appointments at hospitals, surgeries or clinics, we will arrange for them to be accompanied if they or their family so wish.

Appointments will be organised by the staff of the Prince of Wales with such NHS services and other specialist practitioners as necessary in consultation with residents and their representatives. Wherever possible, such appointments will take place in the Home. Where residents are required to attend appointments at hospitals, surgeries or clinics, they will be accompanied, either by relatives and/or representatives, or Prince of Wales Nursing Home staff as requested or deemed necessary.

The following facilities are provided:

  • 18 Single bedrooms.
  • 1 companion/shared room.
  • Electric profiling beds in all bedrooms.
  • Pressure-relieving mattresses and cushions as necessary and according to need.
  • Television and telephone facilities available in bedrooms.
  • 2 Communal lounges/dining rooms.
  • Nurse call system in all bedrooms, bathrooms and communal areas.
  • Assisted toileting, bathing and showering facilities.
  • Passenger lift to first floor.
  • Well-kept gardens suitable for walking around and access via wheelchair ramps.
  • Where safe and practical, the option to bring items of the resident’s own furnishings into the home (please ask for details).
  • The ability to make and receive telephone calls in private.
